Rev. Lana Parks Miller
Executive Pastor
Rev. Lana Parks Miller grew up in Michigan with her six siblings in the AME Church under the
leadership of her parents, Rev. Lyman & Cleo Parks. She is now the Assistant Pastor of DuPage
AME Church in Lisle, IL, where her husband, Rev. Dr. James F. Miller is the Pastor.
“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light…” Matthew 11:30
As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), Rev. Lana answered the call to ministry and was
herself ordained in 1994 an Elder in the AME Church. Since 1989, she has served the DuPage AME
Church family in various capacities including Director of Christian Education, Youth Ministries
Coordinator, Scout Chaplain, and Sunday Church School Teacher. She currently oversees the Stewardess
Board, Class Leader Council, Usher Board, Women’s Ministry, and the Health Ministry.
She has taken seriously the words, “study to show thyself approved.” 2Timothy 2:25
Rev. Lana earned a B.A. degree from Michigan State University, a MSW degree from the University
of Michigan, and a M.Div. from Chicago Theological Seminary. She has also completed the post-graduate
practitioner's program at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Rev. Lana also operates
her own part-time private practice in counseling and marriage/family therapy.
This former school teacher and state social worker is also the proud mother of four children;
Morgan, Jimal, Ashley, and Preston (whom she home-schooled 3-yrs.)
One of her grounding scriptures has been:
“He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is love.”
I John 4:8
