Jack Houston
Director of Evangelism

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5

Jack Houston has been a member of DuPage A.M.E. Church since May 2001. He anxiously completed his new membership orientation, and immediately began attending mid week bible study.

He is currently a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. In October 2001 he was appointed a Class Leader where he continues to serve. Since joining DuPage, Jack has been a faithful member, participating in and supporting all activities of the church. He was recently appointed Director of Evangelism and coordinated the church’s first Evangelism Campaign with full support and enthusiasm of the church body.

Jack grew up worshiping and attending Sunday School in the Baptist Church. He confessed and accepted Christ into his life while a teenager. He joined the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. E. F. Ledbetter. He was an active member of several organizations and auxiliaries of the Church including the Gospel Chorus. During this time he also met and married his wife of 35 years, Gloria Bohannon Houston. In 1974 Jack was ordained a Deacon. He faithfully carried out all of the duties of this office, and served as Assistant Devotion Chairman, Captain of the Girl’s Auxiliary, and Finance Chairman.

Upon relocating to Glen Ellyn where he and his wife currently reside, Jack decided to unite his fellowship closer to home and joined Second Baptist Church of Wheaton by Letter. The leadership and members saw fit to place him on the Deacon Board. He served faithfully for thirteen years prior to joining DuPage A.M.E. Church. Jack is also active in his community, and he has 32 years tenure with his employer. As he interacts in all aspects of his life, he demonstrates boldness and one who is certainly not ashamed of the gospel. His desire is to be a witness, light, and salt that has not lost its savour.

Jack accepts this awesome responsibility with full commitment and with much prayer. He fully embraces the theme of this evangelistic journey as supported by St Luke 14:23

. . . Go out unto the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
