Clarence Smith
Vice Chair, Steward Board
Clarence Smith has been an active member of DuPage AME Church since joining in 1983. He was first appointed to the Steward Board in 1985 and has spent the last twenty five serving in different capacities on the board. He also is an active member of the Gospel Choir and Golf for Christ.
Professionally, Clarence has more than 35 years of executive experiences across a broad range of disciplines in hospitality, health care and the technology industries. He has served as president of a technology company; as a business owner and thirty years as a national leader with a Fortune 500 healthcare management company.
Clarence's civic responsibilities have included: serving of the Board of the American Protestant Health Alliance, Washington D.C.; President of the Board of Interfaith House, a recuperative care center for sick and injured homeless men and women in Chicago. He currently serves as Vice Chairman and Treasurer of the board of Interfaith Housing Development Corporation of Chicago (IHDC), a not-for-profit community housing organization. IHDC has developed over $100 million in new construction, multi-unit housing for the homeless or nearly homeless families in the Chicago area.
Clarence and his wife, Diane currently reside in Woodridge and have four adult children.
