Evangelist Maggie Mardis

Evangelist Maggie Mardis grew up in the states of New Mexico and Illinois with her older brother and her parents Naomi and Rev. Herbert Mardis. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from George Williams College. She holds a license from the State of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).

She has worked as a Supervisory Therapist in the Child and Adolescent Department of Proviso Family Services in Westchester, has headed up the Child Services Department for Hanover Township Youth Commission, and has worked in business for Marriott Corporation. For 21 years, Maggie has operated her own full-time private practice in Downers Grove. There she does mental health counseling with adults, children, teens and couples.

Evangelist Maggie is also an artist with a passion for nature that has taken her to beautiful places to draw, paint and do photography throughout her life. In 2002 she received The Botanical Art and Illustration Certificate from the Morton Arboretum. She exhibits regularly with the Nature Artist Guild of the Morton Arboretum and has been in group shows at the Downers Grove Library and the Elmhurst Art Museum. By showing the beauty of God's creation in her art, she hopes to inspire people to enjoy and become better stewards of His world.

She also has interests in music, dance, puppetry, and clowning. Sis. Maggie believes that it is never too late to do things you wish you had done as a child and has taken tap dance, piano and voice lessons as an adult.

Evangelist Maggie has been a member of DuPage AME Church for 5 years and she has been active in its ministries. She sings with the A Cappella Ensemble, serves on the Sunday School Board as a Pre-School Class teacher, and she is a member of the Usher Board serving on the 2nd Sunday 11:15 Team.

Evangelist Maggie believes in and celebrates the beauty and renewability of the human spirit.

"O Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things." Psalm 98:1
